I had Nicole with me for the birth of my third child, and I wish that ALL moms knew about how much difference a doula can make!  Having Nicole there throughout the experience was absolutely wonderful.  While nurses have to change shifts and attend to other patients, a doula is there for you, the whole time, and my connection with Nicole helped me say more relaxed and focused.  When the nurses came in and out, she was my voice when I needed one, and she just knew exactly what to say and when without "getting in the way."  The nurses told me how much they enjoyed working with Nicole - they kept saying that they, too, knew I was in good hands when they weren't in the room. Later on when I visited the hospital, the nurses remembered me and commented on how great my doula was.   She really has such an amazing way of being present and making you feel so secure throughout your labor.  With my first two children, I remember how anxious I would feel as labor became more intense and there was no one there to really reassure me about what was happening, or tell me that it was normal.  Nicole knew right where I was and seemed to anticipate what would happen next.  Having her there was truly amazing.

We were apprehensive to have a doula during the birth as we both felt that we were experts in this regard. I had already given birth twice before and while my husband has 3 children of his own. We weren’t really sure what to expect. Nicole provided support, advice and compassion throughout the entire process. In looking back, we only wish we had known Nicole for the birth of our other children.
I feel strongly now, that every woman should have a birthing doula. Giving birth is the most miraculous and exhilarating experience anyone can go through, and having someone there in a doula role only enhances that experience.

My husband and I decided to enlist the help of a Doula for the birth of our second child.  We embarked on an all natural birth plan from the start, and Nicole was there from the first step.  She answered all of our questions, provided a great birth review, as well as general support.  When my labor began at the birth center, Nicole proved to be an invaluable asset.  She provided me wonderful pain management techniques in a calm, but assertive manner.  Her uplifting encouragement effectively shortened my labor time.  Nicole also gave my husband the guidance and support he needed to be an effective birth coach.
